Phlox stolonifera
Overview:

Phlox stolonifera is a good subject for either growing in pots in an alpine house, or for use as a ground cover plant.

It is a drought tolerant herbaceous perennial that grows to around 250mm (10") high with a spread of 300mm (12"), and flowers from late May into June.

Cultivation:

circa Week 27:

Take 50mm (2") basal cuttings and insert the cuttings into pots/trays filled with equal parts (by volume) peat and river sand, then place in a cold frame to root.

When rooted pot up into 75mm (3") pots of potting compost and grow on in the cold frame and plant out next April.

Alternatively, divide the plant after flowering and plant the divisions up into suitable sized pots of potting compost and grow on in the coldframe until spring the following year.
