Under glass in September

Week 36 - 2nd to 8th

Check on pots of tender bulbs.

Check on potted alpine plants in frames and greenhouses.

Cut off tip (stop) of tomato plants.

 
 

Week 37 - 9th to 15th

Repot Sprekelia.

Transplant lettuce sown last month to greenhouse beds or large pots.

 
 

Week 38 - 16th to 22nd

Keep a careful eye on late chrysanthemums.

Repot Zantedeschia.

Stop feeding and watering Bougainvillea &  Tuberous Begonias.

Fetch potted Datura, Fuchsia & Pelargoniums indoors for the winter.

Pot up Narcissii for indoor use.

 
 

Week 39 - 23rd to 29th

Prepared hyacinth bulbs should be potted up before the end of the month.

Give ripening grapes under glass plenty of light and ventilation.

Cover Poinsettia plants each evening to produce bracts in time for Xmas.

Generally ease off with watering plants from this month onwards, how often you water will depend largely on the temperature.
