For information on what to do in your garden this week!

Week 1 - 1st to 7th

Check over stored Begonia & Pelargoniums.

Throughout this month check potted azaleas regularly for drying out, or stand the pot on damp gravel.

Prune indoor grape vines if not done earlier.

If growing Lettuce check the plants over for disease.

Insulate greenhouses & coldframes.

Week 2 - 8th to 14th

Check over stored Dahlias.

Clean and check propagator,soil warming cables and greenhouse lighting system if fitted.

Fetch potted Convallaria in to flower indoors.

Check heating systems & electrics and maintain as necessary.

Week 3 - 15th to 21st

Pot up Amaryllis.

Keep an eye on  low temperatures, high humidity and air circulation.

Red spider mite can be a problem indoors.

Prevent pot plants foliage becoming entangled.

Hippeastrum bulbs that are in bud or flower should be placed in a well lit position.

Start potted Osteospermum into growth.

Week 4 - 22nd to 28th

Pot back fuchsia plants if not done prior to placing them in winter storage.

Pot up Gardenia seedlings.

For an early crop of Strawberries fetch a few plants into the greenhouse for forcing.

Again for an early crop, plant potatoes in a 250mm pot.

Check over Gladioli corms.Untie Grape rods to encourage even breaking of shoots.
