Fruit Garden in August

Week 31 - 29th t04th

Tie new shoots of recently planted Figs.

Support heavily laden branches on Apple trees.

Prune Red & White currants.

Hang wasp traps in fruit trees.

 
 

Week 32 - 5th to 11th

Summer prune Gooseberries and protect them from sawfly & mildew.

Layer Blackberries.

Propagate Figs by layering.

Cut down Raspberries Strawberries after fruiting.

Prune Apples grown as cordons or espaliers. 

 
 

Week 33 - 12th to 18th

Propagate Peaches.

Provide support to Pear trees

 
 

Week 34 - 19th to 25th

Pick Plums if ready.

Sever runners from parent Strawberry plants.

 
 

Week 35 - 1st Sep

Take Black & Red currant Gooseberry cuttings.

Tie down shoots of spindle trained Apple trees to encourage the formation of fruit buds.

Check Peaches Pears for ripeness, if ready, pick and store them.

Prune Blackberry bushes

Plant maiden Plum trees
