Mesembryanthemum

Common name: Livingstone Daisy

Mesembryanthemums are suitable for rock gardens and the edges of borders.

The flowers appear from late June to September and will only open in bright sunshine.

Cultivation

Week 13: Sow seeds on the surface of pots and or trays of seed compost, and germinate at a temperature of 15°-20°C (60°-68°F).

Keep compost damp but not wet, do not exclude light, this is beneficial to germination.

Germination should take around four to five days.

Week 15-17: Prick out the seedlings into cells/trays when large enough to handle and gradually harden them off before planting out.

Week 22: Plant out 200-300mm (8"-12") apart in well-drained garden soil, a sunny spot is essential.
