Overview:
There are hundreds of species of Oxalis some are regarded as weeds and others as ground cover / rockery plants or alpine house plants.
Most of the ground cover species grow to around 100mm (4") high with a 300mm (12") spread.
Some have fragrant flowers which appear from May to August.
The plants die down completely after flowering.
Cultivation:
Week 12:
Plant out ground cover species in sun or partial shade in any well drained soil, enriched with compost or leaf mould if available if soil conditions allow.
Alternatively, divide established plants and replant immediately.
Week 16:
Sow seed in pots / trays of seed compost and germinate in a cold frame.
Alternatively wait until Week 24
Germination can take two to three weeks.
Week 19 / 27:
When large enough to handle prick out into individual cells or 70mm (3") pots and grow on in a cold frame until planting out time the following spring.
